چکیده

The indications for MMS include malignant tumors with poorly defined borders, histology, tumor size, level of invasion, anatomic location, reduced patient immunity, and recurrence after previous treatment. MMS is indicated for locally aggressive tumors that are difficult to eradicate by routine measures and recurrent tumors following conventional surgical excision. MMS has been used successfully for the excision of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma in situ, keratoacanthoma, microcystic adnexal carcinoma, dermatofibroma sarcoma protuberans, and extramammary Paget’s disease. Recent reports have also shown MMS to be successfully used for melanoma, especially the lentigo maligna subtype.

This neoplasm is locally aggressive and deeply infiltrating, characterized by high morbidity and frequent recurrence. Mohs micrographic surgery has b...

Surgical Tip: The Double-Bladed Scalpel in Mohs Micrographic Surgery.

Mohs micrographic surgery is applied as the primary method of treatment for various cutaneous neoplasms. Many other methods that are modified applications of Mohs micrographic surgery have also been suggested. We introduce a technique, which is a modified vertical method of Mohs micrographic surgery using the double-bladed scalpel.

Simultaneous intraoperative Mohs clearance and reconstruction for advanced cutaneous malignancies.

BACKGROUND Improved control of cutaneous malignancies using Mohs micrographic pathologic clearance has been well established. However, surgical margin control of advanced and complex cutaneous tumors of the head and neck is commonly performed by far less reliable frozen section margin analysis. OBJECTIVE To describe a routine and ideal collaboration between dermatologic surgery and facial pla...

Double-Bladed Scalpel in Mohs Micrographic Surgery

Mohs micrographic surgery is a tissue-sparing technique that allows for excision of cutaneous tumors under complete microscopic margins control. Mohs surgery boasts high cure rates and maximum tissue conservation. We introduce the double-blade scalpel in Mohs surgery as a timesaving and easy way to harvest tissue strips of uniform width and therefore increase the intraoperative efficiency of th...

[Mohs micrographic surgery: aplication of this technique to penile neoplasms].

Mohs micrographic surgery is a surgical technique that allows the excision in successive layers of cutaneous malignancies with the higher cure rates. At the same time, this surgical technique offers the maximal preservation of normal tissue. That is possible because Mohs surgery provides the advantage of microscopically controlled tumor-free borders in each stage guiding the surgeon in the tumo...
